Top Ten Books: Titles or Covers that made me buy them...

So, I never like to judge books by their covers, but I think all readers have to admit that there has at leas been one book that has really caught their attention. Then, after reading the back, you suddenly dive in for the read, or at least the buy. So those eye catching covers, and titles, really DO mean a lot...

So, just a FEW favorites!

1. The Luxe by Ana Godbersen - Okay, so my friend Jenn sort of let me know about this book, but I love the dress on the front, the color, and the classical style. Not to mention the title is catching in that short and simple sort of way.

2. Penguin Clothbounds - Okay, OKAY, tell me these are not just sexy classics? I can't walk past these books without needing to pick them up, feel them, go through their pages. No, they're not original covers, and the titles all vary, but it's just gorgeous...

3. Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare - I haven't read this yet, because I understand I should be reading the other books first. However, there was something about this book that made me want to buy it. The title was catchy, the cover was gorgeous, so I snuck it into my checkout cart when I was shopping for textbooks. It's just SO pretty. (P.S. Has anybody read this who can at least tell me it's also a sexy story too?)

4. The Children of Hurin by Tolkien - I chose this book because I am such a huge fan of Alan Lee, the illustrator. Honestly, I bought this book for the story and his art.

I told you there were just a few. Why? I really have no idea. I love gorgeous covers, but my favorite books, or at least most of the books that I have, do not have the best covers. Not that they aren't good books but... ya know. For instance, one of my absolute favorites, The Great Gatsby,  has an AWFUL cover image for every edition I've found.

HUGE BONUS POINTS to the person who sends me a Gatsby with a sexy cover. I will marry you/love you forever!

You know the drill, comment below, and give me your opinion.

  3. I'm very torn on the clothbounds, on one hand I think they are quite pretty, on the other, some of the covers bug me because I don't think they are good enough for the books I love! That one is pretty though.

  4. I wished I was at school when I made my list so I could look at the books and remind myself what attracted me to purchase them in the first place.

  7. Ha! I seriously bought The Children of Hurin for the very same reason. Love Alan Lee's work and that cover is so gorgeous in person.

Great picks! If you have a minute stop by to see what I picked this week at There's A Book.

  9. Yep, Penguins for me, too. I'm buying them one at a time whenever I can squeeze them in the budget, and I intend to eventually own even the ones that I know I'll never read, just because I have to have a complete set on my shelves some day. Speaking of beautiful decor, BTW, I love this blog. It's so pretty!

  10. The Luxe is a beautiful cover - I didn't buy it but I borrowed it from my library purely for that. Didn't even bother to read the back of the book!

  12. I had Luxe on my list too. I disagree with you about Gatsby. It's one of my favorite books ever, and I love all the covers. I even have a t-shirt with one of the covers on it.
