Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Secondary Characters!

Hello, everyone! I’m so happy to see you all again. This week’s top ten came with the option of doing your own, or choosing which of my favorite authors I would like to see land themselves into which reality TV show. This one was a little hard for me, as I think they should just be thrown into Man Vs. Wild or something of the like. So, I decided to do my own rollback to whatever I’d like to feature.

This week I’d like to feature my top ten favorite secondary characters. I have fallen in love with so many people behind the scenes of certain books that I wish the author’s would write an entire novel just about them.

So without further ado, check it out!

P.S. The month is halfway spent, which means there’s still plenty of time to enter my giveaway! One hardcover, brand-spanking-new copy of Beautiful Days by Ana Godbersen. This is the second novel in her ‘Bright Young Things’ series, and she’s such a wonderful author. Click here to enter the giveaway!
1. Proctor from The Pendergast Series – Proctor is a butler, chauffeur, cook, arms dealer, super spy, and thick skinned fellow. He gets maybe half a dozen lines in the books, as he’s just the main characters employee. I adore him, because he stays n the background when he’s not needed and the next thing you know he’s showing up with semi-automatic weapons.

2. Remus Lupin from The Harry Potter Series – I have always considered many of Rowling’s adult characters more developed than the students. I love Lupin and his internal struggle as well as his unfailing loyalty. The spotlight, for me, always seemed to fall on him and he generously pushed it away

3. Faramir from The Lord of the Rings – This poor man just needed some Dr. Phil, and you know it. He was the second best kid, rejected by daddy, and pin-cushioned by a bunch of arrows. But he was still selfless to the end. I mean, how many of you LOTR fans actually remember him?

4. Georgia Darcy from Pride and Prejudice – I loved Georgiana, and in Austen fiction around the globe I jump at the chance to read something she’s featured in. Her backstory and character was always loaded in the novel, and any chance to address it is just golden.

5. Carlisle Cullen from The Twilight Saga – I hated this book. I love Carlisle. I hated the movie. I wanted to glomp Carlisle. Don’t ask me why but he didn’t seem to fit in with most of the characters because he had more… “layers.” I consider reading the rest of the novels just because of him. Sad, huh?

6. Eli Glinn from D. Preston and L. Child Novels – Okay… so Doug and Linc are two of my favorite authors. They have two rather popular series’ and several solo novels. Glinn appears everywhere in them. In a solo novel, and in each series. Even they have an obsession with him. He has this failure complex and detests being told he is wrong. Magical.

7. Simon from The Mortal Instruments Series – I adore Simon, he is so sweet and lovable. I think all of us girl fans of these books wish we had our own Simon by our side.

8. Haymitch from The Hunger Games – Oh come on, he’s not afraid to be an alcoholic but somehow he still manages to sober up at some point to help people. He’s the comic relief for a series that’s all about blood and social mayhem, and all he wants is white liquor. I felt bad for him, but at the same time the series wouldn’t be the same for me without him.

9. The Weasely Family from The Harry Potter Series – Minus Ron, because he sort of became this main character that separated from the family. I just think that we’d all love to be a part of that family. I am an only child, so to have the support of so many siblings and to have a home with that much characters is like crack to me.

10. Magnus from The Mortal Instruments Series - I'm only on the first book of this series but I'm really excited to see who Magnus turns out to be and where the series goes with him.

  4. Hooorayyyy for Simon and Magnus! Last week's TGIF meme asked about secondary characters and I totally mentioned Simon - best secondary ever! He's just so sweet and awesome. And I would LOVE for an entire novel about Haymitch; his entire backstory, more details about his Games...it would be a pretty great read.

    Love your list!

  7. Haaaaaaymitch! He might be indeed one of my favorites secondary characters ever :p I loved that man, haha.

And Lupin is also a nice pick. His loyalty to Dumbledore is great.

And Carlisle and Alice might be the only persons I like in Twilight. Hate the movie. Hate the books even more, but they were okay.

  8. It's so easy to get attached to secondary characters because they are scarcer in the novel and thus bring on more excitement when they appear.
