Top Ten Tuesday: Books that should be made into movies...
Hey there and welcome to my top ten Tuesday! Time to list ten books I’d love to see be made into movies. Excited? Me too!
Also! Please don’t forget to dive into my giveaway I’m hosting! Click here to enter to when I copy of Beautiful Days by Anna Godbersen!
1. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare - This is such a fun book and really imaginative. I think it would translate really well into a movie and the characters are just fantastic. The series is written like a movie so it’s kinda begging to get produced, you know?
2. Relic by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child - Just getting this out of the way for my own personal reason. They made this into a movie and butchered it via taking out the main character. Yeah, like Harry Potter without Harry Potter. Totally killed it for me.
3. The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde - I don’t think people appreciate this book at the right level until they actually read the book. It’s super fun and just plain hilarious. If you’ve read Jane Eyre and you liked it, read this. Seriously.
4. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald - Okay, so not only have they made this into a movie but another one is in the works. Can I just say I hope they make this into a GOOD movie? Please…?
5. Ragtime! By E. L. Doctorow - So this used to be a play on Broadway but is so no longer. I’ve seen clips of the play and I really with it were more accessible to other people. Hence the film.
6. The Giver by Lois Lowry - This book is wicked popular and usually gets really good reviews. I just don’t understand why it hasn’t been picked up yet (it hasn’t, right?). But this book always gave me that feeling that it was a hopping off point for young people who wanted to read.
My list is short but that’s because a lot of my favorite books were made into movies. Some of my favorites are also classics that I like just the way they are. And lastly, a lot of my favorites are probably books a lot of you have never heard of and therefore it's no use in adding them to the list.
But those are six titles that jumped out at me when I started this list, so I'm satisfied!
What about your own top ten?
(p.s. sorry no awesome links to the books! Did I mention I was moving and therefore my time is like... gone?)

I only had six in my list too.
ReplyDeleteI love the Eyre Affair, and there's certainly enough action for a movie, but you'd miss out on so many of the subtleties and details that make the books so awesome... Still, I would totally go and see it.
City of Bones is being made into a movie - due for release Summer 2013, I think.
I agree that City of Bones would be interesting to have made into a movie. The effects would be cool. My Top Ten Books to Movies!

The Cassie Clare books will be amazing movies - as long as they are true to the books :-)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde in a movie form as those books are amazing. Great list!
The Giver was on my list too! Oh, and congrats on 100 followers! Great post, and I'm a new follower as well!
ReplyDeleteI would love it if you could check out my TTT!
I'm a little worried about the City of Bones movie they're making (I cannot remember if it's City of Bones, or just Mortal Instruments that they're titling it...) - it's such an incredible, intricate world with a lot of really fun details, and I just hope they get it right! also, have you seen any set photos from the new Gatsby film? I do hope it's done well, but I quite enjoy the pictures anyway haha.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your move!
My Top Ten
I'm following you now, since you are a fellow Gatsby lover. I am SO excited for the new one. I have faith that it is going to be AWESOME! Have you seen the updated version of Gatsby that came out a few years ago? It was modern time and all the characters were, like... gangsters and rappers... and they changed who died at the ending and I kind of died a little watching it. (Although, I usually love updates like Sherlock and Jeckyll, when they reminage, but keep the heart of the characters and the feel of the stories).
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I still have yet to get around to Jasper Fforde's book but I heard wonderful things about it! I am also curious about the new adaptation to The Great Gatsby.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT for this week: http://www.rulethewaves.net/blog/?p=4408
I could only come up with six books too! And even THAT was a struggle. I was thinking about The Giver too - but it has been so long since I have read it, I couldn't remember everything. I will have to re-read it.
ReplyDeleteThe Great Gatsby is starring Leonardo DiCaprio right? I have no doubt it will be EXCELLENT!
ReplyDeleteDu Livre's Top Ten Tuesday
This looks like a great list - I would especially like to see the Giver as a movie!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my list :)
I think City of Bones would make a wonderful movie.

That's funny. I hope the newest Gatsby is good too.
ReplyDeleteAngela @ AJ Arndt Books
Great list! I have the Giver on mine, too. Why no one has made it into a movie yet I just don't know.
ReplyDeleteHere's my list.
Definitely City of Bones!!! :)
