Read-A-Thon April 2012 - Update One

Well this is a little late, I know but I've been hard at work reading ad I'm just super glad at my progress so far, so here goes...

I didn't wake up as early as I'd hoped. Last night I had a friend come over by the name of 'insomnia' and I got to sit up for hours trying to make a dent in some writing, editing, and reading. After finally falling asleep I gave myself an extra half-hour of sleep, plus a hot shower and getting to throttle the coffee pot meant I didn't get to reading until after 9:30am. Then it was time to visit people and all that crap, and so my morning wasn't as productive as I would have hoped.

I have 200 pages to finish out Twilight and then I'm on to something else. I have no idea how I'm going to review that book. I have strong opinions about it and I really don't even know what they are.

The books I'm looking forward to tackling next include:

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

I don't know which of these I'll read one I'm finished with this book, but if anybody has any ideas, please let me know. Hush, Hush is by far the shortest, but the two remaining titles are books in series' that I enjoyed a lot and really want to continue with.

The reading is actually going very well. Once I have the chance to sit down I can easily get in fifty pages in no time at all. I'm thinking of giving myself these slices of time more often. Of course it might help if I excused myself from the blog, eh...?

ANYWHO, my next post will be in several hours, then another later on this evening. I'm thinking, just thinking, about pulling an all-night to really get some reading done. (I have until 8am, don't I?) I read best when I'm alone. On Sunday, when I wake up and if I'm not dead, I'll have a post written up to sort of wrap this all together with a pretty bow.

I want to reward myself with something when I'm finished with this. Suggestions?

Ahem, well, now it's time to read... erm... pack. Yeah. -cough- hinthint-cough- Pack, sure...

Random note, a meme! Because pretty much anything could distract me from reading this book right now...

1) What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

Climax, New York.

No, I’m not kidding.

Although I will be moving someday, which is sort of sad because I loved how suggestive the name of my town was. If you sort of want to find me, get a map, find NYC, follow the Hudson up, and before you hit Albany you’ll have ran your finger over me at some point.

2) Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

Um, let’s see… either Catching Fire or City of Ashes both are the next books in two of my favorite YA series’ and I can’t wait to get to them. I’ve been spending too much time thinking about reading rather than actually reading.

3) Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Anything that isn’t going to kill me. I made the mistake of eating chili for lunch and now I want to roll over and die. Mhmm, sure thing.

Really I can’t wait to go for a cup of tea and some finger food. I don’t care what it is. Something I can pop in my mouth without thinking and that won’t dirty my books.

4) Tell us a little something about yourself!

I’m moving! I say this because I’m losing my mind with trying to move. It’s insane. I’m also an English major and a writer, not published yet, sadness… But I’m super proud of my shitty novel that needs to be edited to hell. I drink way too much tea and over the last six months I’ve had some serious life-changing experiences which I’m so thankful for because I’ve never felt so awesome….

5) If you participated in the last read-a-thon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to?

Uh, read. The last read-a-thon I was so unprepared. I still am this year, but at least I can pretend to know what I’m doing.

I just can’t wait to finish a book and look like I’ve done something…

Pages Read : 224 (I know, it’s sooo bad…)

Books Read : 0

Nom Rewards : 0 (I need tea…)

Radon Thoughts : Dear Lord, I need a cheering section, and for somebody to kill this main character like… now…

  1. HaI I would love to know how many dirty puns people have made about your hometown, of the 'tell me when you've reached Climax' kind!

My advice is to read Catching Fire. It's not so fast paced at first, but around the halfway mark, it gets super-thrilling and you won't be able to put it down.

  2. Lol, I think I also think about reading books more than I do reading them to.
